Most agree on and work within the framework of Daniel Goleman’s original Emotional Intelligence model. His model contains 4 categories of learnable skills, two of which deal with the individual’s thoughts and behaviors (self awareness and self control), and two that deal with the world outside of the individual: Social Perception and Influence.
